Have You ever heard of... THE BUDDHA BOY??
KATMANDU, Nepal - A teenage boy who many believe is the reincarnation of Buddha has re-emerged from the jungle in southern Nepal, attracting thousands of devotees, officials said Tuesday.
After retreating into the jungle for more than a year, Ram Bahadur Bamjan, 18, re-emerged Monday near Nijgadh town, about 100 miles (160 kilometers) south of the capital, Katmandu.
Upon hearing the news, thousands of Bamjan's followers, some from as far away as India, traveled to the site Tuesday to see him, police official Abhaya Joshi said by telephone.
There has been no formal declaration by Buddhist authorities that Bamjan is the reincarnation of the Buddha. But people have worshipped the teenager since he was first seen in 2005 meditating in the jungle, where he sat for months, motionless with his eyes closed among the roots of a tree.
Joshi said Bamjan plans to talk to his followers for a few hours every day for a week before returning to the jungle to meditate.
The long-haired Bamjan, dressed in a white cloth, appeared to be in good health as he spoke to his followers about peace and ending discrimination, according to the Rajdhani newspaper.
"It was an amazing experience to hear and see him. I have no doubt now he is the reincarnation of Buddha," said Sangeeta Lama, a woman who met Bamjan for the first time.
Buddhist priests have been divided on whether the boy is truly the reincarnation of Siddhartha Gautama, who was born in southwestern Nepal around 500 B.C. and later became revered as the Buddha, which means Enlightened One.
Buddhists strongly believe in reincarnation, the doctrine that every soul reappears after death in another bodily form.
Min Bahadur Shakya of the Nagarjuna Institute of Exact Methods in Katmandu said Buddhist priests have not reached a conclusion about Bamjan because they have not been able to fully investigate the boy.
"Meditating without food does not prove that he is reincarnation of Buddha. There is much study needed to be done," Shakya said.
Buddhism is practiced by about 325 million followers, mostly in Asia.
Got a heart attack just now when Sis smsed me. She was telling me to make sure that my bank account has sufficient funds to deduct my Dad's insurance plan at the end of this month. I told her that it was already deducted already and she claimed that the one I've paid for is Saving plan. She has prepared my Dad's insurance to be financed by me from this month end onwards. I was damn dulan that she did it without my knowledge and approval. I made a big fuss to Mum and she called Sis immediately.
I dun mind financing for Dad & my insurance cum saving plans every month. BUT also must ensure that I have the financial ability to do so!! Every month I have been paying three hundred plus for these plans. Now this additional insurance plan for Dad, I gotta fork out nearly five hundred bucks per month for 4 plans!! I have not been getting salary for 2 months already (my previous co still owe me pay thus most likely can only claim this month end) and my bank account is EMPTY. I still have few thousand dollars of debts outside... My new job also not paying sky-high salary to me, after deducting CPF not much left le. Really dun have so much money to pay for everything.
Sis was unhappy lah and she said would cancel my saving plans for me. She would also pay for Dad's insurance and I only need to finance my own insurance. Told her I can still handle Dad and my insurance but I dun wish to keep the saving plans. Her reply after that was sarcastic.... Saying stuff that I should cut down on my shopping bla bla.. Haizz. She dun understand lah. Which girl doesn't shop? I've already reduce on my shopping expenses drastically compared to the past (Taiwan trip cannot count!!). It's the fact that I have been getting peanuts from my job and thus unable to handle all these finances.
Let me repeat myself....
Not I DUN WAN.... is I CAN'T....It's like... if I put money into a saving plan, by the end of month I dun have much cash left and gotta resort to signing credit cards and paying interests after that, makes the saving plans redudant no??
On second thoughts, I sent her a sms again. I told her to maintain the 3 accounts that have been deducting from me all along but Dad's hospital plan she would have to settle herself till next year when my new job is more stabilise then she can transfer back to me.
Went prawn fishing again with Cass yest. We went to the one at Bishan instead. This time her bf was away at reservist and only we 2 gals went. End up we both dunno what to do with the prawns after we caught them. We were too afraid to even touch the prawns and both of us ended up squatting on the ground and looking at the crawling and jumping prawns. I even tried to slam our catch hard onto the ground in the hope of making them dizzy so they wun struggle so much and perhaps we would have the courage to touch them. LOL!! Of course neither of us were that brave after all lah.
Some men there (different groups somemore) saw our pathetic plight and came to help us. Sigh, we were feeling so paiseh!! Everytime we felt a tug on our rods, we were still hesitating whether or not to reel in the line. Cuz even if we manage to catch the prawns, we also dun dare to touch them. Few prawns swam away as a result.
We booked the session for 3 hours, bo bian, I called Hazel to see if she wanna join us. Her bf can help us mah if there's a male around. Unfortunately the bf would be meeting his friends to drink thus they couldn't make it. Then I thought of Lenon! Hehe. He came to join us after he knocked off and initially he also dunno how to handle the prawn. Another guy next to us saw our plights and came to teach Lenon. Duhzz. But glad Lenon was able to aid us in handling the prawns after that.
We left at about 130am and drove to Thomson for Prata supper before Lenon sent me home.
** It was funny when Cass cursed and sweared when Lenon suddenly made a turn at the traffic light.
** It was hilarious when Cass cursed and sweared when she had to do parallel parking at Thomson. I almost turned deaf when she shouted so loudly. Hehe.
** It was zany when we had to wait for Lenon to walk over and helped Cass to park her car.
*** I was apologetic when my soiled shoes dirtied Cass's car without me knowing at all. She had to wash her car becuz of me. Sorry ah, I dunno I stepped on the soil.
*** I was grateful and thankful to Lenon for making the effort to come down to help us at the very last min, treating us to supper and sending me home (everytime) after that. Thank U so much!!
